Almost exactly one year ago when CauseGold and the Cause for Good movement was still just a dream Mark and I met Andrew Miller, founder and director of Back to Basics and part of his team at the 3rd annual Zeitgeist-Day (Z-Day) held March 13th, 2011, at the University of Toronto (252 Bloor St. West).
As volunteers on Z-day, they had set up a table along the sidewalk and where giving away hundreds of pounds of delicious Ontario organic farm grown carrots to the crowds who passed by outside the event on the corner of Bloor St. West at St. George throughout the day. We just thought…very cool. Now, after launching CauseGold we were reintroduced to Andrew and Back to Basics by our KBQ teammate Jarret Kennedy and had the opportunity to learn the full story behind those magic carrots and the rest is as they say history in the making.
We are over joyed to provide the collective services of CauseGold and KBQ to Back to Basics. Throughout 2012 and onwards we plan to help chronicle their work, build out a new collaborative online hub, and fundraising for vital project initiatives. Projects like Charity Garden that trains at-risk youth on organic gardening and farming skills while providing healthy, nutritious and ecological food – remember the carrots – to charity food centers around Ontario providing much needed food to those living in poverty.
Founded in 2008, Back to Basics Social Developments mission is to serve those living in poverty through projects and initiatives that educate and elevate their well-being, with a special focus on youth. They are committed to sustainable development and promote projects that deal with renewable energy, green building, and organic farming.
Environmental Action Barrie charity is partnered with Back to Basics. For over 15 years they have been bringing the people of Barrie and surrounding communities together to learn about environmental issues and the best practices to reverse our daily habits and do right by our environmental surroundings.
